US Masters 2009- The Return of the Tiger by Chris Williams
If they haven't already, golf bettors will be shaking up their spread betting views in time for the 2009 US Masters.
After winning in only his third tournament back since having his knee reconstructed, golfing legend Tiger Woods looks back to his best. Already the favourite amongst golf spread bettors, Woods is the man many are backing to covet yet another victory at the tournament, held annually at the Augusta Country Club in Georgia. Tiger Woods betting would appear to have very little value.
Tiger needs two more Masters victories to tie with Jack Nicklaus' tally of six green jackets. However, there are plenty of other players out there who are more than capable of adding a green jacket to their wardrobe.
One man to watch is Geoff Ogilvy. The recent WGC-CA Championship saw a pressured Tiger lash out at photographers during the game in which he lost to Ogilvy.
After having winning his first title on home soil in December, the Australian has sought to bring down his opponents since - and started his season on fire.
Other serious threats to steal Woods' thunder come in the shape of three-time major winner Padrig Harrington and bookies' second favourite, Phil Mickelson.
Twice former-Masters champion Mickelson is hot on the heels of Woods, with recent successes under his belt. After triumphs at the Northern Trust Open and World Golf Championship, Lefty is in great form going into his 14th Masters appearance and will be seen as a real threat.
Harrington is another serious rival. Having won the last two of the four majors, he is expected by many US Masters bettors to achieve another victory on the way to what is already being dubbed the 'Paddy Slam.'
Others not to be overlooked in the tournament include Sergio Garcia and Vijay Singh.
Some golf spread bettors feel that 2009 will be Garcia's year for winning his first major, while Singh hasn't been out of the top 20 favourites since he won the Masters in 2000.
Excitement is certainly riding high for the first golf major of the year, with wild speculation becoming more hushed all of a sudden. After all, with Tiger back on the field doing what he does best, you probably wouldn't bet against him. So catch up with the golf spread betting scoop with me.
